I snagged a couple of really nice prints from Johnny Was that are inspired by cement tile work in the Sahara. I know this because I lived in the Moroccan Sahara when I was a Peace Corps volunteer. People usually tile the floors wall to wall throughout the house. Some are geometric and other are floral - patterns can be mixed and matched, color are slightly faded and sun washed. Enjoy these rayon prints they are perfect for summer. Keep in mind you can cut out your pattern pieces in different directions for varying effects. Also makes a simple MV Bias Pullover. Swatches and custom length available by request.
Just posted a small bolt of satin back crepe in a really nice medium weight. It is designer surplus waste in viscose (rayon) acetate. This is a great affordable alternative to silk if you are new to working with bias and this type of fabric. Personally I see a nice pair of wide legged slacks. Summer sewing is here and that means working with lightweight fabrics - in many cases that are semi transparent or light in color. If you are looking to add a lining or are working with a sheer print, white linen, or don’t want a pattern to show through from the facing, I recommend discovering pima cotton heirloom batiste as a solution. I use it in many applications to bias bind edges, necklines, line dresses, pants, skirts, and summer jackets, and it also makes a soft sew in interfacing. The new batch of ivory and white I just got in is now 54/55” wide making it easier to use for garment sewing. Feel free to request a complementary swatch of each color for your reference.
