Pant Hems, for slacks, straight, with a cuff, men and women, including invisible jean hems. Uneven legs and breaks will also be covered. We will be also using a blindstitch hem machine. Students must bring examples of items to hem and take notes. You will receive detailed instructions after paying for class.
Become a better sewer through learning professional alterations.
Please take advantage of this series. Alterations are expensive and also a great service to provide for a side hustle or full time business. Even if you are an advanced sewer I think you will still have much to learn in these classes. Students must bring a machine and general sewing materials. I will provide tools for each specific class.
Saturday January 5th, 9 to 12 noon.
In this class we will be making samples of fly front zipper fronts in denim and for tailored slacks. All materials will be provided. Bring your sewing machine!

Saturday December 15th: 9:30am to 12:30pm
In this workshop students will learn techniques for installing invisible zippers that are easy and not commonly used in home sewing. The 5 ways: regular skirt, across dress waist seam, on bias, on chiffon, stretchy pant ankle hem. Students will need a straight stitch foot or half foot or an invisible zipper foot, if not please contact shop before signing up.
Saturday, November 10th 9 to noon
Description: Learning how to use piping is a fun way to up your sewing game. In this class we will learn how to use piping in a variety of applications on garments and accessories. All supplies will be provided - we will work with a couple of different types of fabric and a couple of different types of piping. This is a stress free class.
Skill level: all levels
What to bring: a sewing machine with a regular straight stitch foot and if you have available a half foot. Call me if you have any questions on this.
Home For The Holidaze?
December 8th, Saturday 8:30 to Noon
Description: In this class we will complete a hemlock tee which is a free downloadable pattern. It is one size and lends itself to many variations. Treat yourself right!
Skill level: absolute beginners to advanced
Skills covered: sewing with knits without a serger, hemming techniques, neckbands, and adding a pocket.
We will be working with jersey with no spandex. Please discuss fabric choices with me first and your sewing machine. All you need are a couple of basic stitches that most machines have.

9:30 to 2 pm, registration required, you will need to input your info but nothing will be charged or call the shop to confirm
Come out and shop local for the holidays. In this workshop we will be learning how to make quick and easy mitered corner napkins perfect for the holidays. This is an essential skill for all sewers. You may also use class time to embroider or embellish your napkins with others. Bring your own fabric and supplies or we have have some great navy blue or white cotton linen along with Kiriki Press Embroidery Sampler Kits for inspiration ($12). Napkins make great gifts.

9/29: Getting Started: Take measurements and decide on size. Get info on yarn requirements and where to go for yarn. If you have worsted weight yarn and any circular needles, bring them and we can see if they can be used.
10/6: Start Knitting: You will do your swatch and learn how to check your gauge. Cast on with a sturdy stretchy cast on. Determine any side shaping for fronts and backs. How to attach a second skein.
10/20: Shaping upper body: Binding off and shaping armholes. How to create a strong edge for a polished finish. Shape neck edge.
10/27: Shoulders & Edgings: Binding off shoulders for a smooth shoulder seam. Planning and starting sleeves. How determine sleeve lengths and adjusting circumference of sleeve if needed. Invisible increasing. Making two at once.
11/3: Shaping upper sleeve cap to fit the armhole. Pick up stitches for neckband. Learning the pick up ratio for a smooth ribbing.
11/17: Putting it all together. How to sew in your sleeves and side seams for a make or break finish. Weaving in ends and blocking to perfection.
6 Sessions. 9/29, 10/6, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3 and 11/17 ALL TIMES 9am to 11 am
Pattern for classic pullover in worsted weight yarn will be provided
Appropriate circular needle size to be determined
Removable stitch markers, small scissors, tape measure and gauge, pen and paper for notes.
Class payment: Payments will be accepted in store only, not online.
In order to secure your spot in the class please drop off payment at L’Etoffe Fabrics by cash or check. Or kindly drop off a cash deposit of $25, the remainder can be paid the first day of class. The first day of class credit card charges will be accepted.
Class Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your attendance 7 days prior to the class with a full refund. After that there will be no refunds.
